Anno Domino

Gallery AD has been bringing youth and art together in a natural, comfortable environment for years now with their First Friday events and their work within the community. They used to inhabit the old warehouse/brick building on Montgomery back when Navlet’s Flowers was next door and before the building was sold to the city. It was a nice space and those who have been can attest, it had a nice underground kind of vibe. It was a place where you go could to a DJ battle and peruse art from locals all at the same time. The proprietors of AD, Brian and Cheri have an honest interest and devotion to San Jose’s evolution and ability to produce culture beyond the ordinary. Their visionary outlook took them from the warehouse on Montgomery to their location now, in the old Camera 1 building on First. St. With their Phantom Gallery project and the very look of the gallery itself AD has added a necessary component to downtown San Jose and given the youth a voice in a place that often feels solely centered on money and upward mobility. Every December the First Friday title is Fresh Produce and it’s a place where you can purchase good quality original artwork at affordable prices all while sipping a cup of wine or a Sierra Nevada. They also have a record sale Dig Dug that brings in local record collectors and self proclaimed record nerds.
