East Colony Fine Art

In June of 2002, a group of professional, talented and award winning artists joined together to form East Colony Fine Art, an organization dedicated to showcasing the artwork of local member artists. Working as a team, they created a professional exhibition space from an abandoned loading dock in Manchester’s historic Millyard District. Ten years later, the 2500 square foot gallery inside Langer Place on South Commercial Street has become an important part of southern New Hampshire’s cultural community. As members, all East Colony artists participate in the management of the cooperative gallery, sharing the tasks associated with running a local business. In addition to creating their own pieces for display, the artists commit time to ensure that the exhibits are fresh and current, often including items designed to promote and support other cultural and charitable events occurring in the area. Currently the works on display include oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, collage, pen and ink, as well as stained and fused glass, three-dimensional mixed media pieces and pottery. Many of East Colony’s talented members are established, well known artists while others are emerging artists with new and creative ideas. Unlike traditional galleries, East Colony operates as a liaison for the sale of artwork – its operating costs are funded by a membership fee and not a commission structure. Several artists of East Colony offer art instruction and, for the convenience of our patrons, a custom frame shop is also located inside the gallery.
